This is the moment cops rescue a wounded deer thought to have been hit by a car after a compassionate motorist noticed the animal and alerted the authorities.
The police rescued the deer by the roadside in the village of Stavchany, in the district of Lviv Raion, in Ukraine, recently.
In the footage, members of the Lviv patrol team cuddled and calmed the frightened deer, wrapping it and carrying it in their van, reportedly to an animal rescue team where the animal was assessed and taken care of.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine: “A concerned driver, who noticed a hoofed animal by the road, likely hit by a car, called for help on the emergency line 102.
“Upon arrival, the question arose of where to take the exhausted animal to be examined by specialists.”
“Inspectors Oleg Lukyanchuk and Ivan Lynda skillfully captured the animal and placed it in a vehicle.”
“After contacting an animal rescue organization, they agreed to assist the injured creature.”
“The deer was handed over to veterinarians who examined the injured animal.”
“Subsequently, it will undergo rehabilitation and, later on, be returned to the wild.”
“Thanks to our colleagues and the compassionate man, as every life is valuable.”
