AJet said the foreign national passenger began disturbing a female traveller seated next to him while under the influence of alcohol.
She alerted cabin crew, who intervened and warned the passenger about his behaviour.
But the airline said he continued causing trouble despite the warnings.
The passenger then allegedly attacked and bit a cabin crew member who intervened, as well as another passenger, injuring them.
Flight safety procedures were then imposed on the passenger.
The pilot contacted air traffic controllers at Sabiha Gokcen Airport to report what was happening on board and asked for police officers to be waiting when the aircraft landed.
The plane landed safely at the Istanbul airport before officers boarded the aircraft and detained the passenger.
AJet said both the injured crew member and passenger had made complaints against him.
The airline said in a statement: “On 30 September, an intoxicated foreign national passenger caused a disturbance on our VF-1990 flight operating from London Stansted to Sabiha Gokcen.
“The intoxicated passenger was disturbing the female passenger sitting next to him and our cabin crew intervened.
“Despite the warnings, the passenger continued his disruptive behaviour.
“The intoxicated passenger injured our cabin crew member who intervened and another passenger by biting them.
“Flight safety procedures were then applied to the passenger.
“After the aircraft landed, the passenger who carried out the attack was detained by law enforcement officers who had been called to the aircraft.
“Our passenger and cabin crew member who were attacked have made complaints against the attacker.”
AJet said the passenger had also been blacklisted under its flight safety policy and banned indefinitely from travelling on its flights.
