This is the moment emergency workers ‘fish’ a helpless deer out of a frozen river after it accidentally fell through the ice.
The poor creature was spotted swimming desperately in ice-cold waters of the East River, in Bellevue, Wisconsin, USA.
Video footage shows members of the local fire department battling freezing temperatures to save the animal.
One firefighter dressed in cold-water gear can be seen entering the river to reach the deer, while another tries to wrangle the animal and pull it onto a flotation device.
Soon enough, the rescuers are able to get the buck out of the freezing water and slide it across the ice all the way to shore with the help of a third crew member.
The images were obtained by Newsflash from the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, along with a statement saying: “Engine 2, Engine 5 and Battalion 1 were dispatched for a deer in the East River this morning [5th January] in the Village of Bellevue.
“When crews arrived, they found one deer that had fallen through the ice and was unable to get out.
“Crews worked together to get the deer out of the water and to safety.”
