The alleged attack, which the man decribed as the best sex in his life, took place in Kerpen in North Rhine-Westphalia in western Germany, near Cologne, on 12th November 2024.
The 45-year-old defendant, a German national originally from Kosovo who runs his own company and is married with three children, denies rape and claims the sex was consensual.
The woman had responded to an advert for a secretary and was invited to an interview the same day at the premises of a company involved in industrial plant maintenance.
Prosecutors say the interview was conducted by the company boss in an office inside an otherwise deserted warehouse.
The court heard that he allegedly began asking the applicant personal and intimate questions from the start, including whether she was still a virgin.
According to the prosecution, the 24-year-old became increasingly frightened by his behaviour and the isolated surroundings.
The defendant allegedly touched her face while she was carrying out a trial task on a computer, prompting her to grab her jacket and handbag and try to leave.
Prosecutors say he then blocked her way, took her handbag and told her she could not go.
The prosecutor was quoted by the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger as saying: “The defendant stood in her way, snatched her handbag from her and told her she could not leave.”
The woman repeatedly said she wanted to go outside and became panicked before the defendant allegedly grabbed her, pushed up her clothing and raped her repeatedly, according to the indictment.
Her lawyer told the court that the alleged assault had been deeply traumatic and caused serious psychological consequences.
Prosecutors say the defendant gave the woman EUR 100 (GBP 86) after the alleged attack.
The company boss has dismissed the accusations as “total nonsense” and told the court that sexual intercourse had taken place but was entirely consensual.
He said: “The fact is, she wanted it. The fact is, she took part.”
The defendant reportedly described the encounter as the “best sex” of his life.
The trial at Cologne Regional Court began on 7th September and is scheduled to run for six hearing days.
