He can be seen holding out his hand to catch some of the urine before bringing it to his mouth and drinking it.

The rider repeats the action several times as the CCTV continues recording.

Residents reportedly discovered what had happened after someone complained about a strong smell coming from the lift at around 2.30pm.

Housekeeping staff and residents initially suspected that a pet may have soiled the lift before checking the CCTV footage.

The lift was subsequently cleaned by housekeeping staff.

Residents then checked visitor records in an attempt to identify the delivery rider and tried to contact him using the registered telephone number, which they said was invalid.

Society resident Girish said the footage showed that the person responsible was a food delivery worker.

The society management shared the CCTV footage on social media and contacted delivery platform Zomato as well as local authorities.

Residents said the company’s customer service team told them that the rider had been removed from the service, although Zomato has not publicly commented on the incident.

A delegation from the housing society also went to a police station and began the process of filing a complaint.

Residents said they wanted legal action over the unhygienic behaviour and greater accountability over delivery personnel entering residential buildings.
