This is the moment a deer inside a classroom starts chewing on students’ test papers as amused pupils film the unusual scene on their phones.
The incident took place at a school in Sichuan Province, China, where footage of the animal nibbling on the papers was shared online on 3rd November.
Video shows the small deer moving calmly between desks and lowering its head to chew on sheets of paper laid out by students.
According to reports, the animal was one of several tame deer kept by the school as mascots.
Students said the deer often wandered freely around the campus and occasionally entered classrooms, especially during breaks or evening study sessions.
On this occasion, it reportedly made its way up to the fifth floor before appearing inside a classroom and mistaking the papers for food.
The school said the deer had a gentle temperament and was well-liked by students, who often fed it and took photos with it.

Officials suggested that the deer’s behaviour might be due to the plant fibres in the paper resembling parts of its normal diet and its familiarity with the classroom environment.
No injuries or damage were reported.
Wildlife experts reminded schools that even tame animals should have restricted activity areas to avoid disrupting lessons or causing accidental harm if startled.
They added that sudden noise or movement could frighten animals and create risks for both students and the creatures.
The school said it plans to enhance patrols and improve management to maintain harmony between students and the animals.

Online users reacted with humour, writing comments such as “This deer really ‘digested’ the school material!” and “Try explaining to your teacher that a deer ate your homework.”
Others praised the friendly atmosphere but called for caution to ensure safety on campus.
