This is the heartbreaking footage of the last days of a defenceless tiny dog after its nose was ripped off by a vicious bull terrier.
Fox the German Spitz was horrifically injured when the bull terrier burst through a heavily protected gate to attack the helpless pup in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil.
Shocking video footage was shot by owner Sofia Albuquerque after a series of emergency operations to stabilise Fox’s condition following the attack on 9th October.
The clip shows that Fox’s snout and upper jaw were completely missing and was breathing through a tube in his throat after vets performed a tracheostomy op.
But heartbroken Sofia turned to social media to announce that Fox had died from medical complications on 25th October.
She said: “I did everything I could. I lived for you all these days. But I couldn’t stop them from taking you away from me! I love you and I will honour you. #MourningForFox”
Sofia said her little pet began having trouble breathing after losing its snout and his condition worsened quickly.
Sao Paulo State police are now investigating the bull terrier’s owner for animal cruelty which could lead to five years behind bars.
Police spokesperson Maura Braga said: “We heard from several witnesses in the case, as well as Fox’s guardians and we analysed several security camera images to assist in the investigation.
“To conclude the investigation, we still need to hear from the bull terrier’s owners, but they did not respond to the subpoenas we made.
“I also requested a behavioural analysis so that we could understand the animal’s behaviour.”
Braga added: “We need to understand whether the man used the animal as a weapon, as we have identified that this is not the first time that the bull terrier has attacked another dog.
“The animal cannot be held responsible, but we want to understand whether the owner encourages this type of behaviour.”
The investigation is ongoing.
