The CCTV footage shows the incident in the city of Konya, in central Turkey, on 13th June.
The closed-circuit television video shows the animal ambling up to the unattended tractor and pressing its body against the machine to scratch an itch.
As the bull leans its weight into the machine, the ignition is somehow tripped and the engine bursts into life, sending the driverless tractor lurching forward.
Startled by the sudden roar of the motor, the bull bolts away in fright as the runaway vehicle rolls into a small shed opposite and grinds to a halt.
No people or animals were hurt in the incident, according to local media.
The clip spread rapidly online, drawing hundreds of amused responses from viewers struck by the sheer absurdity of the scene.
Many users remarked that the accident would have been impossible to believe without the recording.
One commenter wrote: “If there were no camera footage, nobody on earth would ever believe this.”
Another joked: “They could never have explained this to the insurance company without the video.”
A third quipped: “Turns out the bull doesn’t even have a licence.”
